Meet the team; Q&A Lisa
Meet Lisa Müllenberg
23 years old from Maastricht, Limburg and former youth Olympic gold medallist in Judo.
Not long ago, Lisa won the gold medal at the Youth Olympics as a …Judoka. She has been a judoka since she was 3 years old, with her father as a trainer.
Just over a year ago, she needed a new city bike for riding to the University in Maastricht, where she is studying Medicine. It was a sporty city bike and soon she felt the freedom and great fun of riding it through the hills of Limburg, for rides lasting up to 50km on a city bike!
One thing led to another, and soon she got herself a road bike. Now she wants to do whatever it takes to become a cyclist.
With her background as one of the best Judokas in the world, we are really looking forward to how far she can make it in cycling. To be continued…
When and why did you start cycling?
This was about 1,5 years ago. My old city bike broke, so I needed a new one to ride to uni. I got a sporty city bike. It was such a big difference with my old bike. I started making some trips through the hills and during the third ride I followed the small signs of the Amstel Gold Race that were along the road. This was so much fun! After two months of riding through the hills on my city bike, I got a road bike and so it began.
What do you like most about cycling?
The physical exercise in combination with the continuously changing surroundings.
Do you find it hard to combine school with cycling?
Over the past 6 years, I successfully combined sports and studying Medicine. In July I will graduate and become a doctor.
