Recap Klimomloop Ulestraten
Last Sunday the ladies of the R+D Team competed in the Klimomloop Ulestraten. One of the girls, Silke Smulders, has written a short report about the race.
Last Sunday it was time to race in Ulestraten. Riding a Limburgian team it kind of felt like a home race and the hopes were high. The course was different from recent editions. This time we were send through the beautiful area near Waterval. Although the couse involved less climbing it was still quite challenging. We therefore believed the breakaway would have a great chance. So especially Mischa and I were keen to go in the attack and hoped for some good legs after a hard race in Vresse-sur-Semois the day before.
Halfway the race I went in the attack to chase the girl that was riding in the front since the beginning of the race. We collaborated well, gained time very fast and got her back. I waited until the last climb to make my final move. Unfortunately I got chased back and it came down to a sprint, in which I became fourth. Mischa managed to go in the breakaway as well, she was the first finishing after the first group as seventh.
For Lisa it was her first time finishing a race. Afterwards I was satisfied with my personal feeling. And as a team we also got some nice results and gained new experiences for the future.
