Recap Trophée des Grimpeuses Vresse-sur-Semois
Last weekend the ladies of the R+D Team competed in the Trophée des Grimpeuses Vresse-sur-Semois. One of the girls, Mischa Bredewold, has written a short report about the race.
Finally a day for the climbers! The first race of the season for us with serious altitude meters. The ambitions were high! Silke and I wanted to be up the front and get as far as possible, and luckily we had the other girls to support us in doing so. For starters, Ilse did a good job getting us up the front in the start of the race, making sure we started the first climb in a safe spot.
Respectively, Rosalie did an amazing effort for Silke and me, keeping us in the front row for the entire second climb, so we were already in the front group when the first split came. In the final 20 km of the race, the front group broke in pieces on a 2,5 km steep climb. Silke and I came together in the 3rd small group, riding for the 13th place. We managed to stay together until the finish, where I won the sprint of this group, becoming 13th, and Silke became 19th. And even though she already did such a big effort for the team, Rosalie still managed to finish the race! It was a good day for us!
